Skin Tags

Skin tags are small, noncancerous growths that form on the skin. They are usually flesh-colored or slightly darker than your skin tone, and they can vary in size from a few millimeters to a centimeter or more. Skin tags are very common, especially as people age. In fact, it’s estimated that up to half of all adults will develop at least one skin tag in their lifetime.

Skin tags are caused by friction between skin surfaces.

They are most commonly found in areas where skin rubs together, such as:

Types of Acne:

• The neck
• The armpits
• Under the breasts
• The groin area
• The eyelids

Skin tags are also more common in people who are overweight or obese, pregnant, or have diabetes.

While skin tags are harmless, some people may choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons. There are a number of ways to remove skin tags, including:

• Clipping them off with surgical scissors
• Freezing them with liquid nitrogen
• Burning them with electrolysis

If you are considering having a skin tag removed, it is important to see your dermatology provider to discuss the best course of treatment.
